Gitwe

Perched among rolling green hills covered with coffee trees, not far from the Nyungwe national forest and the volcanic soil surrounding Lake Kivu, Gitwe washing station has built a reputation for turning out stunning coffees. In the cup, we taste dried fruit and blueberry with delicate floral notes.

In 2019, Gitwe site was purchased by RTC (Rwanda Trading Company) as part of RTC's mission to restore sites that had undergone years of neglect and unstable management. As part of their approach, RTC has employed full time staff to manage and maintain sites as well as re-establishing them as places of stable and seasonal employment for locals. Through RTC, coffees like Gitwe have full transparency, direct impact in the field, and security to farmers of repeat business and premiums paid at the end of each season. This is our first year offering Gitwe and we couldn't be more excited to share this cup with you.
