Getachew Zekele, the founder of the Dimtu Tero washing station and Dimtu Tero Farm, is a man on a mission. To start with, the Dimtu Tero washing station processes coffees from 416 small farms from the area. Each grower has a contract with Getachew which states that Dimtu will: support them with farm input and seedlings, provide training on coffee production and best practices, promote their coffees at a premium price, coordinate research and studies to raise coffee quality, and coordinate and pay for inspections. The Dimtu Tero farm itself is a 373 acre semi-forest farm folded into the forests of Guji. Dimtu plantation holds organic certifications and produces heirloom varieties as well as multiple disease-resistant cultivars developed at the world-renowned Jimma Agricultural Research Center. Getachew says "I want to be one of the leading coffee producers, processors, and exporters in the country that customers trust on quality, traceability, and sustainability."
