Katahira's Kabusecha

Mr. Katahira's farm is in the Shizuoka province, near Suruga Bay and Mount Fuji and we are proud to say this is our second crop of kabusecha from him. Kabusecha is a type of shade-grown green tea from Japan. Japan is known for shade-grown greens, with gyokuro and sencha being the most common. The weeks long shading process, coupled with the purity of river water and fog from the mountain make this tea a good example of how growing and terroir go hand in hand to shape what we experience in the cup. Katahira's Kabusecha was harvested in 2020 and is a blend. This tea has notes of arugula, jasmine rice, and water chestnut, with a very umami and brothy mouthfeel.
