Santa Elisa

Regular price

This is our first year buying coffee from Santa Elisa, and this Geisha is a stunner. Santa Elisa is located in the Acatenango region of Guatemala, just west of the massive Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes. In the cup, expect sweet citrus, soft florals, and a delicate body.

Origin: Chimaltenango, Guatemala
Processing: Washed
Varietal: Geisha

Elevation: 1200-1700 MASL
Tasting Notes: Clementine, Floral, Delicate

Importing Partner: Los Volcanes Coffee

Despite its large size, Santa Elisa has struggled to produce enough coffee to sustain the community that relies on it as a source of income. In 2017, an extensive refurbishment and a more innovative management style dramatically increased the farm's production—almost 400%! This lot was processed by our partners, Los Volcanes Coffee, at their mill in Antigua called Beneficio La Esperanza. They have to be extra careful with the cherries from this farm due to the large amount of ash that often covers them from Volcán de Fuego (one of the most active volcanoes in the world). If not washed well, the ash can cause issues for cherry depulpers. Santa Elisa has been experimenting with producing many different coffee varieties, and this Geisha is a testament to their work.

Our coffee bags are now recyclable - just return your used bag to any of our cafés and we'll take care of the rest.
