The Gachatha washing cooperative is located in Nyeri County, a region renowned for its significant contribution to Kenya's coffee production. This picturesque area lies nestled between the majestic Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare ranges, located just to the east of the Great Rift Valley. The climate and natural features of Nyeri create an ideal environment for coffee cultivation. The region boasts rich, red volcanic soils, ample rainfall, and gentle yet warm temperatures, all of which are vital elements for producing high-quality coffee. At harvest, ripe cherries are handpicked and delivered to the mill by smallholder farmers in the area. Once delivered, the cherries undergo a highly controlled washing process. We hope you enjoy this truly special and colorful cup.

Our coffee bags are now recyclable - just return your used bag to any of our cafés and we'll take care of the rest.
