Fernando Diaz is a Cup of Excellence winning producer who we've enjoyed a long relationship with. Fernando grows 55 varieties of coffee on his farm Santa Ana, a uniquely high number of varieties for a farm of his size in Guatemala. This particular variety, Maracaturra, is a hybrid of Maragogype, an uncommonly large size bean of outstanding quality, and Caturra, a more traditional variety known for its sweetness. Although Maracaturra is highly susceptible to leaf rust and requires more maintenance, it is fast becoming a popular variety among top-tier producers because of its tropical, bright cup profile.
