Horizon

Regular price

Production at the Horizon site began in 2019, when Leo Fidele Ndagijmana purchased the station and set out to restore its equipment and its potential for producing high quality coffees. This marks our second time purchasing coffee from the Horizon station, and hopefully not the last. We love this cup profile; look for notes of fruit candy, plum, and brown sugar.

Origin: Kigoma, Rwanda
Processing: Natural
Varietal: Red Bourbon

Elevation: 1700 MASL
Tasting Notes: Fruit Candy, Plum, Brown Sugar

The Horizon site is located in the Kigoma sector, 20km from Huye, the main city in the area situated in Southern Provence. Upon purchasing the site, Fidele named the site “Horizon” to guide his vision for processing quality. The site is very beautiful, situated in a long valley surrounded by dramatic slopes. The three hectare site is perched at 1680 meters, but the surrounding farms sit closer to 2000 meters. 1200 farmers contribute cherry to the station from farms that are all within 2km to the site. The average farm size is 7000 trees, although some have as few as 100 trees amongst other crops. All 1200 farmers are members of the ATP (Agribusiness Training Program) and receive organic fertilizer from the station to use on their trees. We hope you enjoy this special coffee.

Our coffee bags are now recyclable - just return your used bag to any of our cafés and we'll take care of the rest.
